Let’s Go Skiing in May! Where? In Poiana Brasov!

With the winter season almost here and many of us dreaming of endless ski slopes covered with perfect powder snow, I’ve decided to focus this blog entry on an interesting initiative in Poiana Brasov, one of the best known skiing resorts in Romania. What does this have to do with medical tourism? Your traveling partner can take advantage of its location, in the proximity of Brasov – it’s a lovely 15 minutes drive from Brasov to the resort.
The local authorities of Brasov prepare a grand design for Poiana Brasov. This would be translated into up to 60% larger slopes and an artificial lake on top of Mount Postavaru destined to supply water for the 46 snow cannons to be installed. Besides covering the slopes in quality snow, the technology to be implemented would mean slopes will be open, in some cases until the month of May.
In total, there would be 13 kilometers of rehabilitated slopes and six kilometers of extended slopes.
